Painting My Way to Peace
My Story Continues….
How Did I Get Here?
The years have been a blur. I can blink my eyes and be back in my old house, married, and growing my licensing business. Then another blink, and I’m divorced, living on my own for years, and making the decision to teach art. A time warp later, I find someone again, move into their house in my fifties, and suddenly feel lost in life—lost in everything. It’s been two years since then, and so much has happened.
Do you believe everything happens for a reason? It’s a hard one to wrap your head around. I believe I met him for a reason—it was meant to be, and I knew it pretty quickly. But little did I know why. He has challenged me, pushed me, annoyed me, and loved me. He has been a great teacher, in the truest sense. A mirror. A reflection of myself, my past, and the deep-seated patterns I carried from childhood. Oh, so many lessons have been revealed and learned. We are growing together.
During what I affectionately call The Great Upheaval, the universe did something strange. First, it put him in my path. Then, as challenges arose, I became acutely aware of everything happening—not as a dark night of the soul, but as an illumination. A portal into something deeper.
The more I learned about myself—my patterns, my childhood—the more answers began to emerge. It was hard, but it was magical. Puzzle pieces of my life began clicking into place. And the biggest piece of all? The keys to my illness.
For over 23 years, I searched for answers to my Lyme Disease, chronic fatigue, brain fog, food sensitivities, and neurological issues. The first revelation came in a single video about DPDR—Depersonalization/Derealization. In just ten minutes, I had an answer to my most distressing symptom: the constant feeling of not being real, as if I were walking through life in a perpetual state of otherness. It’s impossible to explain fully—like viewing the world through a filter, never quite touching reality. This has been chronic since 1999. And suddenly, I learned that the root cause wasn’t Lyme or some mysterious illness but chronic stress and an anxiety disorder.
I always thought of myself as laid-back and calm, but my nervous system told a different story. It had been stuck in a freeze state for 25 years—maybe longer. My entire life may have been a cycle of fight, flight, and freeze. What a revelation.
And then came the next piece: Limbic System Impairment—the biggest breakthrough yet. My dysregulated nervous system had put my limbic system into overdrive, sending distorted signals to my body. The result? A cascade of symptoms—varied, strange, mysterious, and utterly real. Symptoms that plagued me not just since Lyme but far earlier, going back to childhood. I could now see the patterns: a highly sensitive child, navigating a home with a narcissistic, emotionally unpredictable mother, learning to survive by suppressing feelings, dissociating, and retreating into my own inner world.
But now, I had something I had never had before: real information and real tools to heal. So I jumped in. Little did I know that this would be another marathon—not a sprint—but a profound gift. The road to recovery is not just about physical healing. It’s about the entire being. Nervous system regulation is the umbrella, but beneath it lies a lifetime of emotions, stored trauma, avoidance patterns, limiting beliefs, and more. The symptoms are just the tip of the iceberg.
Healing isn’t just about the body—it’s about the mind, heart, and spirit. And the real key to healing? Awareness and the Superconscious.
The Superconscious and the Path to True Healing
What I’ve learned is that we don’t heal solely from the conscious mind. The subconscious holds the deep programming we absorbed throughout our lives, shaping our reactions, fears, and patterns. But beyond even that, there’s the superconscious—a higher state of awareness, where the deepest wisdom and purest healing reside.
This is where true transformation happens. When we access the superconscious, we see beyond our stories. We shift from being lost in our past to observing it with clarity. Healing unfolds in ways we could never force or predict. It’s not about revisiting pain endlessly, but about recognizing it, releasing it, and rewiring our nervous system, body, and soul for peace.
And through it all, one thing has remained my solace, my sanctuary, my guide: my art.
Art as My True Sanctuary
Since childhood, painting has been my refuge—a place where I felt safe, connected, and free. It wasn’t just about creating something beautiful; it was about feeling. In the hardest moments of my life, art was my sanctuary. When words failed me, when my body was in distress, when my mind was overwhelmed, the act of painting became a doorway back to myself.
As I healed, I began to develop something new: healing painting meditations—a fusion of art, nervous system regulation, and mindfulness. These weren’t just creative exercises; they were tools for deep healing, ways to move energy, shift emotional states, and bring the nervous system back into balance.
And from this journey—this transformation—came Paint Your Way to Peace.
Paint Your Way to Peace: A Year of Healing
This course wasn’t just something I created. It was born from my healing. Every exercise, every meditation, every brushstroke reflects the steps I took to rewire my nervous system, process emotions, and reconnect with myself. It’s a year-long invitation to slow down, release stress, and let painting become a healing practice.
Through simple, meditative watercolor exercises, you’ll learn how to:
• Calm your nervous system through color and movement
• Use art as a tool to process emotions and release stored energy
• Shift into a state of relaxation, presence, and flow
• Connect with your intuition and inner wisdom
• Transform painting into a self-healing ritual
This is more than a course—it’s a path to peace, healing, and self-discovery.
I never imagined my healing journey would lead me here, but now, I see it so clearly. This is what I was meant to do. Art has been my healer, and now, I want to share that gift with you.
Wherever you are on your journey, know this:
Healing is possible. Peace is possible. And sometimes, all it takes is a brush, a little water, and a willingness to let go.
